बीएमएम २०२६ सिॲटल अभिमानाने सादर करत आहे अधिवेशनाची शुभंकर – रेनियर राणी.
गेल्या चार दशकांहून अधिक काळ बीएमएम अधिवेशनांनी उत्तर अमेरिकेत मराठी संस्कृती, वारसा आणि समाजभावना जपली आहे. २०२६ च्या अधिवेशनात प्रथमच अधिवेशनाच्या शुभंकरची संकल्पना पुढे आली. रेनियर राणी नवतंत्रज्ञान आणि आपली मराठमोळी संस्कृती यांचे प्रतीक असून ती अधिवेशनाच्या ‘स्त्रीत्वाचा सन्मान’ या संकल्पनेचे प्रतिनिधित्व करते.
प्रेरणा: ऑर्का
रेनियर राणीसाठी वॉशिंग्टन राज्याचा अधिकृत सागरी प्राणी ऑर्काची (Orca) निवड केली. पॅसिफिक नॉर्थवेस्टच्या निसर्गाशी घट्ट जोडलेला हा प्राणी बुद्धिमत्ता, शक्ती, एकता आणि मातृत्वभाव यांचे प्रतीक आहे. हे गुण स्त्रीत्वाच्या मूल्यांशी सुसंगत आहेत. स्त्रीत्वाचा सन्मान या संकल्पनेसाठी मादी ऑर्काची निवड करण्यात आली आहे.
नावाचे महत्त्व - रेनियर राणीचे नाव सिॲटलच्या प्रसिद्ध माउंट रेनियर वरून घेतले आहे. नावातील राणी हा मराठी शब्द तिच्या आत्मविश्वासपूर्ण, स्वतंत्र आणि स्वतःच्या जगाची राणी असण्याचे प्रतीक आहे.
दोन संस्कृतींचा संगम - रेनियर राणी सिॲटलची आधुनिक ओळख आणि महाराष्ट्राचा समृद्ध वारसा यांचा सुंदर संगम आहे. तिच्या वेशभूषेत वारली या महाराष्ट्रातील आदिवासी चित्रकलेचे नक्षीकाम असलेली साडी असून त्यात सिॲटलच्या मायक्रोसॉफ्ट कंपनीच्या रंगांचा वापर केला आहे. नथ, बांगड्या आणि कपाळावर केशरी चंद्रकोर हे पारंपरिक मराठी सौंदर्य आणि परंपरेचे प्रतीक आहेत. तसेच ती मराठी अभिमानाचे चिन्ह म्हणून पारंपरिक मराठी फेटा परिधान करते. तिच्या माध्यमातून सिॲटल आणि महाराष्ट्र यांच्यातील सांस्कृतिक सेतू निर्माण होतो.

A Historic First for BMM
BMM 2026 Seattle proudly introduces Rainier Rani, the first-ever official mascot in the history of BMM conventions.
For over four decades, BMM conventions have celebrated Marathi culture, heritage, and community across North America. In 2026, Seattle marks a new milestone by introducing a mascot for the very first time. Rainier Rani stands as a symbol of innovation and cultural continuity, representing the convention’s theme, celebrating womanhood.
Inspiration: Orca
Rainier Rani draws inspiration from the Orca, the official state marine mammal of Washington, deeply tied to the identity and natural heritage of the Pacific Northwest. Known for intelligence, strength, unity, and nurturing spirit, the Orca reflects the values of both BMM 2026 and womanhood. A female Orcawas specifically chosen to align with the theme of celebrating womanhood.
Name Significance: Rainier Rani’s name is inspired by the iconic Mount Rainier, one of Seattle’s most defining natural landmarks, with the Marathi word Rani, meaning queen, representing her identity as a confident, empowered queen of her own world.
A Fusion of Two Cultures: Rainier Rani blends Seattle’s identity with Maharashtra’s rich heritage. Her design features a sari with motifs of Maharashtra’s tribal art Warli in Microsoft-inspired colors. Traditional Maharashtrian elements like Marathi style nose ring Nath, bangles, and saffron colored crescent moon Chandrakor on forehead reflect timeless Marathi tradition and elegance. As a signature Maharashtrian touch, she also wears a Marathi style feta (turban), representing pride and heritage. Through her, we bridge Seattle with Maharashtrian culture.
Rainier Rani represents community, creativity, and the celebration of womanhood, bridging Seattle’s spirit with Maharashtra’s cultural legacy.
