The Audition Round for the Dhol Tasha Competition at BMM Convention 2026 is now OPEN!
🥁 About the Audition Round
The rhythms, the energy and the passion — it all begins here! The Audition Round is the first of the two rounds of the high-voltage Dhol Tasha Competition of the much-awaited BMM Convention 2026.
We are excitedly inviting all Dhol Tasha Pathaks across North America to showcase their artistry and power packed performances. This is your moment to shine on the grandest Marathi stage in the diaspora and to create lifelong memories for everyone!

📅 Important Dates
Audition Entries Accepted until: November 11, 2025
Audition Results: By January 15, 2026
Qualified teams’ final in Seattle: August 6th-9th, 2026
🌎 Who Can Participate?
- Open to all Dhol Tasha Pathaks from North America only.
- The number of participants per team is minimum 12 and maximum 20.
- Each participant must be 12 years or older.
- Each team must submit a 8 to 10 minute video audition recorded specifically for this competition.
- To participate, please submit the audition entry form and a fee of $60 to register. Payment details will be on the entry form.
🎥 Audition Video Guidelines
- Video must be between 8 to 10 minutes.
- Must include a brief introduction of the Pathak and performers at the beginning.
- Must be a performance recorded from now till Nov 11th specially for the BMM Convention 2026 audition round.
- High quality audio and video is essential for fair evaluation — refer to our guidelines below 👇.
🎙️ Audio Quality – Top Priority
- Must use an external microphone for best sound quality.
- Record in a quiet environment with minimal background noise.
- Balance instruments and vocals properly. Avoid distortion.
- No auto-tuning or audio effects — please share the original audio.
📹 Video Quality
- Record in landscape (horizontal) mode.
- Preferred resolution: 1080p (Full HD) or higher.
- Ensure stable framing — use a tripod or selfie stick .
- All performers and instruments should be clearly visible.
💡 Lighting
- Record in a well-lit space. Use proper lighting if indoors.
- Avoid strong backlighting (like windows behind you).
- Ensure all faces and instruments are clearly visible.
🕒 Duration
- Video length must be between 8 to 10 minutes.
- Only one continuous take — no edits, cuts, or effects.
🆕 Recent & Relevant
- The video must be recorded specifically for BMM Convention 2026 auditions.
- All performers in the video must be part of the auditioning team. No hired or guest performer.
🎭 Presentation
- Introduce your team and performers briefly at the beginning.
- Dress in your team costume and maintain stage-like discipline.
- No mixing or editing. All content must be performed and recorded live.
📝 File Format & Submission
- Name your file as:
TeamName_PerformanceTitle.mp4 - Accepted formats: .mp4, .mov, or .avi
- File size should not exceed 1GB.
- Please share the link for the video to Cloud drive, YouTube etc. Please ensure the organizers will be able to access the shared folder and able to download the file.
🧑⚖️ Judging Criteria
Your audition entry will be assessed by an esteemed panel of independent judges and Dhol Tasha experts from Pune — the very source of the tradition! Judges decisions will be final and all participating teams will be provided feedback by the judges.
Teams will be judged on:
- Composition Originality and Creativity
- Musical Quality, Discipline, and Synchronization
- Recording Quality (audio & video)
- Use of Instruments, Accessories, or Props. Dhol, Tasha, Zaanj (maximum of 3), and Dhwaj are required. Teams may incorporate other instruments for enhanced sound effect, but these will not yield extra points.
- Costumes and Presentation Aesthetics
- Overall Performance, Presentation, and Impact
